Body Control Pilates®
Finding an appropriately trained Pilates Teacher is important
As Pilates has become more popular so has the demand for Pilates teachers, however, they will not all have had the same level of training. Some teachers can become certified after only a few hours or a weekend course.
Body Control Pilates® Teachers are required to complete an 'apprenticeship' style training with more senior teachers as well as over 100 hours of intensive theory and practical sessions in London.
The Body Control Pilates® Method has evolved from the work of Joseph Pilates. BCP have created a repertoire of exercises - many unique to the approach - that teach the movement skills needed to gain maximum benefit from Pilates, whether on mat or machine.
Each exercise is based on eight different principles
All Body Control Pilates Teachers work to a code of practice, which governs teaching standards, professional ethics and continuing education. The BCPA (Body Control Pilates Association) have a Continuing Professional Development programme whereby teachers are required to keep their knowledge up to date by attending courses and workshops regularly. Body Control Pilates® instructors are classified as Level 3 Advanced Instructors, which is the basis by which GP's and other health professionals base their referrals.
