The Reformer and One to Ones

The Reformer machine is the most popular piece

of Pilates equipment

When most people talk about a Pilates machine they will usually be talking about the reformer.  Despite the way it looks, the reformer is a very elegant machine.

What is a Pilates Reformer?

It consists of a moving carriage that allows you to perform low impact, resistance based exercises in a variety of positions, sitting, kneeling, standing, lying down.   The adjustable springs allow for progressive resistance, it makes for an effective, no impact stretching and toning workout that is friendly on the joints.

Who is the Reformer suitable for?

The answer is everyone! Although the reformer is particularly useful in assisting those unable to perform complex matwork exercises as it provides support needed to make the exercises possible.  Yet on the other hand it can provide greater resistance to those who need it.

The reformer is a popular fixture in Pilates studios and is incorported into most personal training sessions.

What are the benefits of using the Reformer?

Most gym machines work very few muscle groups in the body, the reformer is unique in that it works all of the muscle groups in the body through their full range of motion.  If you exercise regularly and accurately with the reformer you will experience a stronger, leaner more toned body in a relatively short period of time and you will be inspired by the results to push your limitations a little each time.
